To All 2017 Whittier Area Classic Car Show Participants,
On behalf of my car show committee, I would like to thank you for your participation in our sixth annual event, and invite you to the 7th Annual Whittier Area Classic Car Show.
This past February, we hosted just over 400 show cars, a few display cars, and a hand full of nostalgia dragsters. The show also included sponsor and vendor booths, t-shirts, live music, games and activities for the kids, a very popular coffee cart, food trucks, sno-cones, a raffle table and opportunity drawing, and trophies in over 20 categories. As in past years, weʼve heard a lot of positive feedback, and many of you have expressed an interest in our next event. Please consider this letter and enclosed registration form your invitation to attend our next car show scheduled for February 24, 2018.
This past February was a very different experience for all of us at the Whittier Area Classic Car Show. With the tragic shooting of Whittier Police Officer Keith Boyer just days before the show, you helped us reshape our focus, get the word out, and the community really came together to support Officer Boyer’s family and the greater Whittier Police Department Family. With your help we raised $19,002.00 selling T-Shirts and Raffle Tickets. Last year’s car show at Whittier Area Community Church was the beginning of a long line of donations and benefit events supporting the Whittier Police Officers Association and the Boyer Family. All of us at the Whittier Area Classic Car Show are truly grateful for your very generous support and look forward to serving you again in 2018. I should also mention, that the balance of the 2017 Car Show Proceeds went to Serve Weekend/Love Whittier, where hundreds of volunteers came together, on a weekend in May, to complete hundreds of projects for organizations in the greater Whittier Area. Altogether, you helped raise nearly $28,000.00 last February, our most productive year yet.
We would also like to express our thanks to Jim Maher of Good Vibrations Motorsports and DragParts.Com for his continued support. Jim will be back in 2018, along with Classic Performance Products and Vintage Wheel Works. A big “Thank You” goes out to Matt and Jeff Langan of Precision Metal Crafts who will once again produce our trophies and to Whittier Area Community Church for being our host. The crew at Stith Printing has once again produced our artwork and will print our t-shirts. Thank you to all of these organizations for their continued support; this will always be a major team effort.
The food trucks will be back in 2018 and the coffee cart will be available too. Three important things to note: 1.) As in previous years, all show cars will have a designated registration number and numbered parking space, so there’s no need to arrive early; 2.) If you would like to park next to your buddies, please send your registrations in as a group. Itʼs easier to keep your group together, if you register together; and 3.) Last year we sold out six weeks before the show. If you would like to come back in 2018, please register early to guarantee your spot. The earlier the better!
Our plan is to have the 7th Annual Whittier Area Classic Car Show look very much like our previous shows, with just a little tweaking to make it a little bigger and a little better. The date is set for Saturday, February 24, 2018, and the time will be the same, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. For more information, please visit our website's homepage at www.whittierareaclassiccarshow.com or our Facebook page.
Again, thank you for coming out last February and giving us your support. We look forward to seeing you in 2018.
Tod Linklater, Chairman of the 2018 Whittier Area Classic Car Show
